Chapter News

What has PCMA Chesapeake been up to this year?

The chapter kicked off the year with a virtual cocktail reception to celebrate the beginning of PCMA Convening Leaders 2021. Each board member brought their favorite cocktail recipe to the event to share with the group. There was everything from an Old Fashioned, to an Espresso Martini, and the event was wrapped up with our personal favorite – opening a bottle of wine! The ingredient lists for this event can be found here.

Then in March, the chapter learned “How to Hybrid” from Rachel Paisley with Hargrove from Encore. Rachel shared the components necessary to create a successful hybrid event – starting with the key drivers behind an event and ending with how to apply those drivers to common meeting types. Rachel shared her Hybrid Event Handbook with the group after the event.

March also kicked off another round of PCMA Chesapeake’s Virtual CMP Study Group, led by Marci Glavin. Assisting Marci with this season’s group is Amanda Wells, CMP with Arlington Convention & Visitors Bureau, Karen Fogle, CMP, HMCC with Visit Plano and Judy Payne, CMP with Gamestop. The chapter started Q2 with a successful Mind-Body Fitness Fusion Break with Dr. Kim. This 30-minute wellness break taught the chapter’s meeting planners to prioritize self-care and stay energized, focused and engaged during COVID-19 and beyond. Participants left feeling energized with self-care tips and resources to implement Dr. Kim’s “Eat, Sleep, Move, Breathe” technique into their daily lives.
